When it’s time to work on your suspension, you are faced with the question – should I choose polyurethane or should I choose rubber.
Let’s start with one important fact, the original designers of your car used rubber. And they did it for a reason. Well many reasons actually.
Today we are just going to look at one of those. Rubber is simply better for you.
Why you ask? Well, for a start It’ll make sure that it’s all quiet in the cabin
The whole world it seems is obsessed with sporty road handling. Which is great because OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) manufacturers of new cars are exclusively using rubber suspension. Which means you don’t have to compromise on noise. Poly is used by aftermarket shops only for replacement when the original rubber is worn out. Repair shops use polyurethane suspension because some think it will last a little bit longer than rubber suspension but that’s may not be true. Rubber lasts longer than Poly and the benefits of less noise make it a no brainer from a choice perspective. Poly is stiffer material than rubber and it doesn’t take long to start squeaking and letting road noise through. .
There’s no Squeaking
There’s no feeling worse than driving along and hearing squeaking, even the slightest bump will make a sound not dissimilar to that of an old creaking door closing and turn people’s heads, and not in a good way.
As you can no doubt see, there are some significant advantages of using rubber when it comes to the noise or lack thereof when driving a vehicle. Rubber Suspension brings more benefits than just noise reduction and we will cover these in future blogs, which we’ll cover in our upcoming blogs.
