  • The most popular passenger vehicle make is Toyota, with 2.9 million registrations. Toyota tops the list for the 13th year running.
  • The vehicle types gaining fastest in popularity are light rigid trucks and campervans. After all, who doesn’t like to get away on a road trip?
  • We also like to hold onto our cars – the average age of the Australian car is 10.1 years.
  • According to stats from finder.com.au, Tasmanians and South Australians are likely to keep their cars the longest. Those in NSW, the ACT and the Northern Territory go car-shopping the most often.
